Andrea Jenkyns says she liked Boris Johnson as PM

Amol Rajan upped out of his seat and pretended to walk off set, jokily claiming to have been put on the wrong show, as he hosted Have I Got News For You for the first time this evening.

The BBC presenter welcomed panellists Dame Andrea Jenkyns and actor and comedian Miles Jupp onto the brand new episode as they joined team captains Paul Merton and Ian Hislop. As always the contestants participated in a comedy quiz show where they had to answer questions based on the week's top stories and news.

At one point former Member of Parliament for Morley and Outwood, Andrea, admitted that she "didn't think it was over" for Boris Johnson - who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party from 2019 to 2022.

She added: "I still think Boris was one of our better Prime Ministers." In response, the studio audience let out a loud noise of disagreement.

Addressing the show's host, Andrea took a little dig saying: "I see you've selected the audience. You know, the people who don't like Boris or Conservatives."

But Ian hit back saying: "You can't just say 'you've selected the audience'. You've got no evidence for that, no proof. It's just b****cks." Taking a swipe at a rival news show, he added: "This isn't GB News!"

Amol then asked jokingly: "Hang on, this isn't GB News?" He jumped out of his seat and went to walk away as he said: "I thought I was on GB News... I'm in the wrong place altogether!"

He then decided to sit back down and crack on with the show as the audience erupted in laughter.

Fans on Twitter were split over the comical moment, with one writing: "Typical #BBC… yet another lefty audience that can't resist booing Boris. True to form, balance seems to be the last thing on the BBC menu. Well done @andreajenkyns! Boris will be back, we all know it! #HIGNFY fast becoming old hat but #GBNews is where the growth is. #BBCBias."

Another added: "One of the only three programs i watch on TV these days - @haveigotnews, @Channel4News, University Challenge - moments like this are why I still do."

While a third said: "This mixture of politicians and journalists is so jolly it makes me very uncomfortable."
